Beyaz Güvercin Motel
This used to be the end of the world until a few years ago. There was the sea (dazzling!), the wild mountains, a few haphazard farms, and that strange feeling of quietness that is a mark of places which have not yet meshed into the buzz of the modern world. Around the headland used to be the camp of the underwater archaeologists who explored one of the world’s oldest known shipwrecks. Beyaz Guvercin - The White Pigeon - existed even then, a primitive bunch of huts on a parched hillside that served as shelter for the occasional sea-weary sailor or visiting diver.
The place is now under new management - a young urban couple who came as guests, fell in love, and ended up taking over. The rooms are still fairly basic, although each year they gain a bit more in amenities. The grounds have bloomed into
a fabulously rich garden, full of u flowering plants and palm trees, and even a proper lawn of green grass. The atmosphere is friendly and familiar, with an equal complement of Turkish and foreign guests. The sea is still dazzling - very deep and very clear. It is a good place to spend a week or two away from the cares of the world.
