Didyma (Didim)
Once didyma was founded on a peninsula and was connected to an island but through the ages the Menderes Delta filled up so that it became an ancient barbour town.
The most important building of the city which was the religious centre of Ionia is the Didyma Apollon (Didyymaion) temple.
This huge building was the centre of oracles and even today surprises visitors with its magnificence. The Faustina baths have also come down to our day quite intact.
