Elkep Evi Cave House
Another masterful example of fairytale cave-hotels in Urgup’s Cavern Hill, Elkep Evi, like its neighbours, offers fabulous atmosphere and a perfectly exotic setting. The bonus here is larger and brighter rooms, each with a private terrace carved into a nook of the cliff, and a gorgeous view over the Cappadocian dreamscape. The wealth of architectural detail and invention draws one in: one ends up falling quite in love with this infinitely malleable stone womb. Haydar, a charismatic host, presides over the house.
Elkep Evi was formerly called Agartha Cave House. The Agarthans, reportedly, withdrew to a network of subterranean cities, enclosed ecosystems beneath the earth’s crust, when mankind invaded the surface of the globe with destructive drive. They submit -so we are told- the the government of the Inner World, and act as custodians for the sacred records and teachings of various ancient and perished cultures.
