Patara
The greatest harbour of the Lycian civillistion. The harbour stretching 1.6 km. and with a width of 400 metres today is mostly covered with sand.
Howewer most of the magnificent theatre is clear and very much worth seeing. The ancient city 10 km from Kalkan is today a very popular touristic site. The city famous for its oracles is also known as the birth place of St. Nicholas (Father Christmas) The ruins are spread out on a wide area and the ones from the era of Hadrian are quite intact.
