Pinara
One of the most important cities of ancient Lycia. Pinara was conquered by Alexander in B.C. 334. The rock cementery and graves which overlook the city on a high rocky mountain and which resemble a bee hive are very impressive.
As the workers who built the graves laboured from above, tied to ropes and hanging down, they were called “bird people”.
